The town Bansko

It is been known as a cultural center for 600 years and became later a religious center. It was situated at the foot of Pirin-mountain ridge about 900 meters above the sea level.

At summer holds Professor Emil Iliev, a president of the Bulgarian Society of Acupuncture at Sophia University, healing and intensive treatment of people here in Bansko.

The main focus is done on a treatment of musculoskeletal system, immune system, CFS (chronic fatigue syndrome), migraines, stress disorders, skin diseases, allergies, sleeping problems and many others.

What kind of treatment and how intensive it should be is prescribed according to the results of your examination.

In most cases it is a combination of acupuncture, acupressure, massage, healing gymnastics, herbal therapy, nutritional therapy and diet. The treatment is daily.

You can also have a cosmetic treatment: herbal massage, anti-wrinkle treatment and laser therapy. The program will start approximately at 8.15 in the morning with qigong - a gymnastics and breathing exercises from the Chinese medicine. The treatment is fulfilled by a cooperating team, which includes a healing gymnastics therapist, masseur, nurse, cosmetic therapist and a qigong teacher.

The morning starts with a fresh pressed fruit or vegetable juice. After a qigong class you will have a healthy and nutritious breakfast buffet.

For dinner and supper you will be served soup, main course and a tasty dessert.

There is a great choice of fresh vegetables, fruits and berries, which are cultivated in that region in summer and are grown ecologically.

After a day's treatment you can go for a walk: either to mountains or you can take a country-tour to the famous Rila monastery, Rozhen monastery and the old wine town Melnik. You can also reach the Greek Agais (Kavala) by ca. 3 hours ride.

It is about 200 small typical Bulgarian cafés and restaurants that compete to satisfy your taste. Many of them offer folk music and folk dance.

Jazz fans who came to Bansko for treatment are especially welcomed here. There is an annual international jazz festival arranged from 8. - 13. of August with a great number of musicians.

People who come for treatment are suggested to stay at the hotel Balmax. The hotel complex is situated in a northern suburb of the picturesque town Bansko, in about 10 minutes from the downtown on a distance, which is ideal for rest and recovery. All rooms have bath, WC and satellite TV (German and international programs.) There are a swimming pool and sauna.

Professor Iliev speaks Germans fluently, and you can speak English or German with the staff.

INFORMATION ABOUT MINERAL WATER SPRINGS

The Bania mineral water springs

The minerals water springs are all around the village Bania about 5 km from Bansko.

There are about 40 springs in this area. The average height where the water springs out is 800-850 m above sea level.

The mineral waters close to Bania are nitric-hydrocarbon-sulphate. The total capacity of the mineral water springs is considered to be over 2000 l/min. The temperature of the springs varies between 56-57º C to 37-38º C. The waters are alkaline and very pleasant for drinking. Generally all water springs are inodorous, but the "Murtina Bania" which smells a bit of hydro-sulphur. The total content of all mineral substances amounts to 311.5 mg/l.

The mineral waters in the Bania region are mainly used for the treatment of chronic inflammation diseases of the peripheral nervous system, support-motive system and gynecological diseases.

Mineral water springs near village Eleshnitsa

The spring is located about 2 km west of village Eleshnitsa and 12 km from Bansko, in the Mesta river valley.

It is a crystal water, transparent, very tasty and inodorous. Water temperature is 55,4º C. Capacity - 200 l/min, pH 8,9. Alkaline reaction to phenolphthalein. Minerals content of the water - 333 mg/l. The water is hyperthermal, hydrocarbon-sulphur-natrium, fluor and silicium.

Dobrinishte mineral water spring

The Dobrinishte resort complex is situated at the North-East of the mountain Pirin and is a part of the Bansko Municipality.

Dobrinishte exists since the middle of the 13 century, but the area has been inhabited by romans and byzantians long before that. It was famous for its warm mineral water springs, fruitful soil, nice climate, its woods and the mountain.

The area is rich in mineral water springs - about 17 all around the village. The total capacity of the Dobrinishte mineral water springs is 782 l/min and their temperature is from 30º to 43º C. The water has low mineral content, hydrocarbon-sulphate-natrium-fluoride. It is crystal, inodorous and very tasty. For spa treatment it is applied mainly for the cure of chronic joint diseases, bones, muscles, tendons, chronic joints' rheumatism, arthrosis, spondilarthrosis, neuralgia etc. As drinking water it is used mainly for the treatment of chronic kidney diseases, chronic hepatitis, gall-bladder inflammation, chronic stomach and intestines - chronic colitis, gastritis, constipation, stomach and duodenum ulcer etc.
